Client Introduction


We are one of the most watched, small yet established internet companies in Silicon Valley and continually make the news of the hottest small companies poised to IPO. We are looking for a talented charismatic leader to oversee the team that drives our analytics platform serving all of our customers. This new leader will both manage and grow a team of world class big-data scalable systems engineers and serve as its architect.


Job Description


The Director/Architect will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and will be responsible for the architecture and management of the existing platform and new green-field and areas of research. This is a hands-on role and requires an extensive mathematics background.


Job Responsibilities


As Director will be called upon to:




- Oversee the development, deployment, and overall support of the company's analytics platform.



- Recruit, motivate and mentor world class engineering talent



- Instill an engineering culture in his/her team



- Directly manage the engineering teams



- Solve complex problems, not relying on delegates, able to make the tough calls when necessary



- Effectively prioritize resources and represent the Engineering team



- Implement transparency and process to development process

Required Experience


The ideal candidate for the position will have:




- Superb communication skills



- Strong engineering and technology background



- Enthused about technology: a tinkerer, a builder, tech hobbies - any of these a plus



- Ability to straddle business as well as technology requirements



- Track record of delivering against aggressive product commitments



- Strong desire to make a big impact and name for him/her self



- Built and managed a highly scalable analytics service - have lived the proverbial hockey-stick of growth, not just step-by-step increments



- Technical prowess particularly when earning credibility and respect of engineering team



- Experience running and supporting online services



- Familiarity with technology stack and architecture, particularly for large data set analysis



- Experience in media/advertising is very important



- Strong process background with great organizational skills



- Strong people and management skills; world-class recruiter and mentor



- Ability to drive decisions through consensus building



- Experience with large and small teams, as well as managing through growth



- Not a micro-manager or a "manager of managers"



- Experience in start-up environments


Required Education


A strong education in Mathematics is required
