Job Summary: The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing and developing high integrity software and services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The immediate focus for this role is prototype design for our software’s Ontology component. The scope is:
· Improve and build upon the existing code base
· Design and implement new visualizations/layouts
· Ensure all new elements integrate seamlessly with other demo components
· Ensure that all new elements are customer centric and embody customer empathy
· Take an inquisitive, curious approach to all aspects of the development lifecycle
· Prioritize tasks and work independently while interacting with other members of the company
The long term focus for this role:
· Design and build the Ontology component as a stand alone product as well as an ongoing component of the larger system
Education, Experience & Interests:
· Experience or interest in semantic technologies
· Strong java development skills
· Desire to learn new programming languages, and develop new, proprietary languages
· Relational database experience
· Experience with data security
· Experience with user interfaces, and interest in Java 3D or similar 3D interfaces and visualization tools (e.g. Ontosphere)
· Experience building applications that scale
· BS in computer science or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge of complex topologies
· Experience in multiple programming languages
· Passion for building new products in a fast paced, team-oriented environment that is customer focused
· Solid coding practices including good design documentation, unit testing, peer code reviews, and a preference for agile methods
· Sharp analytical abilities and excellent communication skills
· Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
· An undying passion for quality code and being part of something bigger than ever before
