Responsibilities:

• Define, develop, and drive adoption of the Design Pattern Library with system usability guidelines, design guidelines, and GUI prototypes in order to provide consistent and documented site architecture.

• Apply strong technical knowledge to drive deliverables of the Design Pattern Library.

• Collaborate with the product definition team on interface design and interaction. The IA is responsible for creating wireframes and will work with a creative designer to flesh out the visual/brand design.

• Clarifies the vision & mission of the site by balancing business and customer needs.

• Drives the strategy for content and functionality on the site.

• Specifies user interaction on the site by defining its organization, navigation, labeling and search systems.

• Maps out and anticipates how to accommodate site changes and growth over time.

• Partner with the Product Manager and development team to evaluate and recommend appropriate metric tracking for the user interface.

• Keep up to date on emerging technology solutions and usability research.

• Work with Product Managers to reduce the complexity of business rules and still meet the product goals.

• Responsible for IA of key customer paths. Collaborate with Product Managers on information design for those key paths. Defend technical and UX design decisions with industry best practices.

 

 

Customer Definition:

• Responsible for gathering customer requirements, analyzing/recommending experience design, and overseeing execution of those requirements.

• Determine what feedback loop is required and then incorporate the feedback into IA deliverables.

 

 

Required Skills, Education & Experience:

• 5 or more years of professional experience in designing usable web-based interfaces, with mass-market consumer products and e-commerce sites.

• STRONG Knowledge of site design (HTML & CSS)

• Strong JavaScript skills a plus

• Applying modular and systematic approaches to UX design and technical implementations

• Designing navigation, interaction and nomenclature systems

• Experience with Mobile (both m.sites and applications)

• Leadership and an ability to advocate the usage of a Design Pattern Library.

• Knowledge of Open Source UI libraries (jQuery UI) would be preferred.
