This is an opportunity to join an early stage Web 2.0 start-up, CareerElement.com. As of this moment, this position is equity only. Our beta is set to release in October of this year, and with some success we will be able to obtain outside funding from VCs and Angel groups.
Responsibilities:
* Performs new product design and development.
* Takes ownership and active participation throughout the product life cycle that includes product definition, functional specification, design, development, unit test, code reviews and deployment.
* Works as part of a small, highly motivated and experienced team with tight deadlines.
* Shares knowledge and learns from others.
Requirements:
Software Engineer – Back-end:
* Web 2.0 experience
* Significant experience in Java, PHP in MVC frameworks
* Object Oriented design and development
* Demonstrated development skills
* Comfortable in a Unix environment
* BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
Software Engineer – Front-end:
* Experience in XHTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript and comfortable in a Unix environment
* Strong design skills, ability to support visual design
* Knowledge of common design tools and PHP Frameworks
* Experience with various web browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome)
* BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
Ideal Candidate would possess:
* Demonstrated strong academic or professional achievement
* 5-10 years in the field, with experience in the tools listed above
* Advanced degree in Computer Science
* Highly entrepreneurial, flexible and extremely hard working
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Work well both in a small team environment and as an individual
* C, C++, .Net, Ruby on Rails, Django experience is a plus
We are open to full-time or part-time positions. Some of our members have full-time commitments in addition to a part-time position at the company. The team meets three times a week, at nights on Tuesday and Thursday, and again on Sunday.
