Web UI/UX Designer for Seattle's Best Non-profit Startup
at Vittana in Washington-Seattle
Job Description
Vittana (www.vittana.org) is hiring a talented and passionate UI/UX designer to help Seattle’s premier social impact startup become the #1 marketplace for global education.
We’re on a mission to change the world (really) and the software and experience you design are integral to our success. This is a part-time position offering the potential for full-time employment…if you knock our socks off. You'll work collaboratively with opinionated smartypantses in a casual environment.
You will work hard, have fun — just like the rest of us — and may on occasion be asked to carry 6-ton elephants on your back across a bed of nails while being chased by a pack of hungry Antarctic penguins. And, you know, deal with the CEO's bad jokes.
Responsibilities:
- Create experiences so slick and seamless that visitors become addicted to micro-lending.
- Help build killer back-end software, enabling us to efficiently pass information between students, lenders, Fellows, and MFIs worldwide via the intertubes.
- Lead projects from grey matter to white board to red carpet while establishing and maintaining a cohesive visual style and tone.
- Balance pie-in-the-sky ideas, biz goals, market analysis, user feedback, site metrics, and your own great taste.
- Define, articulate, evangelize, and integrate design principles – you’re our only hope.
Experience and Abilities
Required:
- An online portfolio that screams, “Hire me.”
- Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment - easily bored otherwise.
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
Strongly Desired:
- Codependent relationship with Adobe.
- Thrilled by the modern UI/UX possibilities enabled by things like TypeKit, AJAX, and HTML5. (No coding skills are required, though. We want you to focus.)
How to Apply
