Zoosk is looking to add a Front End Software Engineer who is passionate about working on the latest web technologies to join our crew in San Francisco. We're looking for someone who can bend uncooperative browsers to their will using only a toothpick, some chewing gum, and a well-placed "position: relative"! Our ideal candidate would finish features that win usability awards from "real end users" and would still want to improve the experience. We are looking for web developers eager to tackle the challenges of a rapidly-growing web application with millions of daily page views. As part of our front-end development team, you'll collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to launch new products, fine-tune existing features, and build a world-class user experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hungry to learn new skills and technologies, and able to handle multiple projects with ease.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on defining clear requirements, deliverables, and milestones for new projects


• Design, test, develop, and deploy production-ready applications using LAMP stack and Client-side code


• Understand how users interact with your features through extensive use of analytics and continuously improve user experience

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of Object Oriented design, coding and testing patterns


• Exceptional HTML/XHTML and CSS, and "mad" JavaScript skills


• Experience with Model/View/Controller frameworks (Cake, Rails, Spring, or your own)


• Experience integrating frontend code with server-side technology on a large-scale, dynamic website


• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in frontend architecture


• Experience with Javascript libraries (Prototype, YUI) and debugging tools (Firebug)


• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and/or frameworks is a must


• Experience with Linux, PHP, Apache is preferred


• Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science or another relevant field


• Previous startup experience and development in an Agile development life cycle is preferred


• Experience developing applications on web application platforms such as Facebook, or OpenSocial is a plus
