No Such Thing as Recession Proof

When a company is presumed to be “Recession Proof” they tend to provide counter cyclical services / products (Amazon, eBay, WalMart, McDonalds [compete on price]) or in a business with no growth whatsoever. For instance, Funeral Homes are thought to be recession proof, but that is because they aren’t growing a lick.

When is the last time you heard about some investing in a high growth group of Funeral Homes?  Exactly.

That being said, a recession will affect all business.  Capital will be hard to come by, companies aren’t purchasing as much as they were, whether it be services, products or advertising.

The key then is to focus on weathering the toughest parts allowing you and your business to come out of the recession alive and kicking and that much stronger.  That means cutting costs, focusing on customer service and building long lasting value into your services.
