The list is good, and certainly a number of the companies are up on a lot of people’s radar. Judy’s and Darren’s comments are justified, too: some of the companies on the list can be challenged because they are not exactly “wet behind the ears”.

The following list is culled from a group called RocketBuilders — which is an organization that is sort of an incubator here in Vancouver.

Now… admittedly, a couple of the companies declare their head offices in places other than Vancouver. This, unfortunately, is because we sometimes find ourselves a lot like Lennox Lewis: we’re world champs, but we have to look far and wide for fair sponsorship. * The following are mature companies, and in my mind don’t qualify as start-ups: Business Objects, ActiveState, Dotster and Uniserve (Kinzin is one of their products, but it’s kind of a new thing for them, so it probably should stay).

* The guys at Veratta and Raincity are great and they’re good companies, but they’re only two of a ton of Web development/design houses in town. If you’re going to include them all, your list will probably be three times as long.

* Same goes for game developers. I think there are a bunch of small and medium sized companies you’re missing, starting with Propaganda Games.
